This night cache starts at a park bench and meanders around for about 850 metres in fairly open ground (steep in bits) until you reach the final which will be a bit of a scramble.
The route will take you along a short section of the beach, so if you find yourself not walking on sand for a hundred metres or so at one point, you will not be on the correct route and will most likely miss some of the reflectors.
You will need quite a powerful torch and what you will be looking for is a mixture of orange fire tacks, white reflective paint and a bit of ultraviolet light trickery, so please come well prepared – ie if you don’t own a UV torch you will not be able to get to the log book.
Oh one more bit of information – when you get to igneous dolomite with a white reflective patch, get that UV torch out.
Hope you enjoy Port Macquarie’s first night cache and we would love to see your logs that describe your adventure – ie please don’t just say “TFTC”, or “Found it”, or “An easy find”, or any combination of simple comments like that. If that is what you normally write, then we ask you to try to use your imagination and write something that represents your adventure that is commensurate with the effort of creating this cache.
