Richard the Third, the Last of the Plantagenets, was at killed Bosworth Field on 22nd August 1485. His body was taken to Leicester where he was buried, without a coffin in the Friary of the Grey Friars, remaining there until 2012 when University of Leicester archaeologists, together with members of the Richard III Society uncovered him in what is now a Council office car park.
He was finally given a proper and fitting burial in Leicester Cathedral on 26th March 2015 almost 530 years after his death.
