Geocache Description:

Kahlotus Road from Pasco then right on Snake River Road toward the Snake River.  Nearest gas is at Pasco, Connell or Washtucna

Snake River Jct. is the former station were two abandoned rail lines split. The upper “highline” was the SP&S (later BNSF) rail line from Pasco to Spokane via Washtucna. This route was abandoned by the BNSF in favor of just one Pasco/Spokane route via Ritzville. This line is now owned by Washington State Parks and someday will be a hiking/biking path along the north bank of the Snake River. The lower “low line” was owned by the NP RR and ran from a SPS RR connection at Snake River Junction to a connection with the Camas Prairie RR that goes on to Lewiston, Idaho and beyond. This line was abandoned when Lower Monumental Dam was built and flooded the original right of way upstream from the dam
