After last year's
Celebratory CITO at the Gulf Branch Nature Center, we'll once again take part in the annual
Potomac Watershed Cleanup and help to pick up trash and litter along this stream near its confluence with the Potomac ...

What:
A Stream Cleanup CITO. CITO (Cache In Trash Out) is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. At this CITO event, we'll be pitching in to help clean up litter from an approximate 1.5 mile stretch of Gulf Branch just prior to it joining the Potomac River.

Where:
Gulf Branch Nature Center
3608 N. Military Road
Arlington, Virginia 22207

When:
Saturday
April 11, 2015 (4/11)
12:30 PM until 3:00 PM
- 12:30 to 1:00 Socialization, Planning, and Organization
- 1:00 to 3:00 Clean-up

Additional details:
Bags and a limited amount of gloves and other cleanup gear will be provided and on hand. However, BYOCS (Bringing Your Own CITO Supplies) is always appreciated.
Additional water and a first-aid kit will be available and on-hand. This is a strenuous activity, please come prepared.
Sections of the stream and stream bed are steep and may include significant embankments, rocks, and other obstacles. Please keep this in mind if bringing children and plan appropriately. A change in clothes / shoes / socks (and / or waterproof footwear) may be especially helpful. Last year we had several participants quite literally getting their feet wet.
With the above in mind, suggested items to bring include: gloves, sturdy boots, water, change in clothes / shoes, first aid kits (if you have one), and anything else you think may be helpful. Thanks!
Please try and arrive by the 1:00 PM clean up time so we can most efficiently organize and break out the given space.
This CITO event is part of a larger cleanup effort by the park, and a part of the 27th Annual Potomac Watershed Cleanup. As such we may (and hopefully will) be joining forces with some non-geocaching volunteers in efforts to clean up Gulf Branch. This CITO itself, however, is being held by geocachers for geocachers, as a subset of this larger cleanup effort.
