If we need to state GPS coordinates in degrees and minutes, accurate to within 3 metres, it is best to use decimal (base 10), hexadecimal (base 16) or even sexatrigesimal (base 36), because the lower the base the more digits are needed. Binary (base 2) is only really good for digital computers (and geocache puzzles).
