Inspired by the current exhibit at nearby Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, this cache celebrates Virginia Beach's own pop art celebrity, Ryan McGinness. McGinness grew up in VB's skate and surf culture, studied at Carnegie Mellon University and from his New York studio, creates works currently shown in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, Cincinnati Art Museum, MUSAC in Spain and the Misumi Collection in Japan. Known for his original extensive vocabulary of graphic drawings which use the visual language of public signage, corporate logos, and contemporary iconography, McGinness creates paintings, sculptures, and environments.
