We start this event with a basic principle of geocaching; Cache-In Trash-Out. Most are introduced to geocaching without the Trash-Out feature.
The event will start at NOON with a CITO event with the objective to clean the park. Brown Street park is a pleasant place with several level acres and a wooded area. Gloves may prove handy. We will supply collection bags and vinyl gloves. The park is not terribly trashed but after a long winter there tends to be a collection of snack packages, candy wrappers and cigarette buts. It's nice to have the park cleaned for the opening of the Spring City Pool that is located in the park. Trash cans are provided for by the Borough.
Each participant will receive a CITO baggie to encourage future cache-in trash-out activities.
We will start the Geocaching training at 1PM until 3 PM. We will have 5 or more "sample" caches to hone your skills as well as have a list of real caches around the area. Come and join in the fun!
We are encouraging local scouting groups to participate and assist with the Geocaching for Newbies that will follow the clean-up. We will have several unofficial test caches hidden in the park for our training exercise. Bring your GPS or smart phone - or we will provide a GPS for your use to find these clever hides.
