The bandy creek boat Harbour is located 10km to the east side of Esperance. Although easily accessible by water, the two sides are several kilometers apart from each other by road.
The west side is commonly known as the recreational side, which has 20 Mediterranean type boat pens and a walkway. Ajacent to the recreational side boat pens is a two lane boat ramp, Summy park for the kids to play, public toliets, BBQ, and fish cleaning facility. In 2007 it was declared a natural disaster after a 'once in a generation' storm hit Esperance. The weir at the entrance to the Harbour couldnt handle the increase of wather and broke its banks. Sand flooded into the Harbour stranding boats creating sandbanks . The Weir has now been resigned so that it holds up if similar flooding accurs .
The geocache is located on the west side of bandy creek on Daw Drive, down a short gravel road heading towards the Weir, at the actual creek, if you think you need a 4WD you are heading the wrong way...... happy hunting :)
