I Was Scared to Have An Event :) Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hatfield McCoy House: Thanks to the locals and a handful of great guests at the Hatfield McCoy House for coming out and helping to beta test the publish of the Hatfield McCoy House GeoTour. I think it went well and have made a few adjustments and have a few more to do to finish up making every single cache perfect but hope this week of pretty spring weather will let me update the few that I didn't completely feel happy with.

After four months its nice to click on them and say...yes...Im thrilled with that one...and special thanks to each of you for the awesome favorite points. I really worked hard and those made me smile big smiles :)

I will say what I always say...Geocachers Rock !!!!!

Wendy

Geocache Description:

A little sneak peek at the HMHG 001 The Travelbug "Inn"-formation cache page. The starting point on the New Hatfield McCoy House GeoTour.

I waited until the last minute to publish this event because I was scared. LOL The last time I did this I accidentally had a MEGA. That is not the desired effect at all this time. I just wanted to have a little event at the house the morning of the kickoff so that those of you who are locals who are doing the trail that morning can come by and visit a bit and have a cup of coffee and a donut and visit and talk about all things geocache and get to enjoy sharing the publish of the caches with my geocaching friends.

My hope with this GeoTour is that it will bring a steady flow of cachers back to the area to do geocaching in and around Williamson for the coming year. I am excited to have had the honor of saying I own an official Groundspeak GeoTour. I am a bit sad that I couldn't talk them into giving out a souvenir for the GeoTour but thought with all the other icons you would get that an event cache would be a nice bonus.

We will meet at HMHG 001 the morning of Feb 28, 2015 between the hours of 11-12 in the afternoon and you can pick up your pre-ordered copy of the passport here. I also wanted f0t0m0m to enjoy his visit from California to do the caches so I thought a small event would be nice. Then we will jump in our cars, jeeps, piglets, etc. and head out to do some fun caches.

I also wanted to let you know that there are several special tools required so that you can prepare and I hope each of you will bring these items with you for the special caches. The items are also listed on the cache pages once they publish.

While doing the trail you are going to need a few extra things in your cache toolbox.
  • A Pack of Chewing Gum :)
  • A padlock or hasp lock to leave for the locks of love cache.
  • A gallon of Water (no really you will want this for the caches, not to drink)
  • A battery
  • A Flashlight for the Night Cache if you are doing it after dark.
  • A QR Reader on your phone if you want to do the QR Cache.
  • A GPS that can find a Garmin Chirp if you want to do the Chirp, Chirp cache.
  • A phone or GPS with the ability to do a Wheirgo if you want to do the most amazing Wherigo cache, written by Bill Richardson.
  • A screwdriver for HMHG 144 the Magic 8 Ball Cache.

Below you will see the sneak peek of the HMHG 001 cache page. Several of the GeoTour Links will not go live until Feb 28 so be aware that they may not work prior to the publish date of the caches.

THE COIN IMAGE SHOWN BELOW IS THE DECODER FOR EVERY PAGE. I ALSO ADDED A PHOTO THAT YOU CAN PRINT OF THE DECODER FOR THE PUZZLES IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY GOTTEN YOUR PASSPORT AND WANT TO WORK THE PUZZLES ONLINE BEFORE LEAVING HOME YOU CAN PRINT THAT BELOW FROM THE GALLERY OF PHOTOS ON THIS PAGE.
