The 20ha Waiatarua Reserve is Aucklands largest urban wetland restoration project and was officially opened on 7th Sept 2004. It is a large off leash dog park and extremely popular with muggles and puggles alike.
Pukeko, colloquially known as Purple Chickens, along with ducks and other waterfowl call this wetland home and this cache is placed at the duck feeding pond.
The name of the cache comes from the funky chicken reference in the wear sunscreen song - google it if you have not heard it
