For several years or more, you will be able to tell that a tornado came through here. This was the 2011 tornado path. When the event was over, the trees were flattened. The forest service sold off what was left of the salvageable timber. Fuel reduction is one of the many reasons. In future years they may burn the area as a way of removing more fuels and opening the understory. Also this area is know for Pine and burning helps the pine tress and incresses the browse for wildlife.
