This is a winter friendly series of three caches placed on the unpaved section of the Valley Trail. Although the caches are not far off the trail , for winter retrieval you will definitely need snowshoes if we continue to have the amounts of snow that we've had this winter.
I have lived in the Silverwood area since 1986. As I placed the containers on a pleasant. winter day, memories of time spent in this area came flooding into my mind, thereby resolving the issue of what to name the hides. You can park at the end of Glen Eyre Court which is very close to the trail or park on River Front Way and then use Stewart Lane to access the trail. I do, indeed, enjoy this trail and hope you do too!
As a family we enjoyed many a bike ride along this trail. Since the only hill is in the area of the Hartt Island Campground (known to the locals as The Bucket Club, so called because of the golf driving range that was once, but is no more, .part of the complex)the peddling is easy. The trail is also very popular with runners and folks walking their dogs. The mature trees on either side of the trail provide shade or dappled sunlight on a hot day and lots of hiding places for caches. I have always been fond of the beautiful birches at the most westerly end of the trail. As I was placing the caches I noticed there are also a lot of hemlock trees, something which I had never noticed before.
