nikcap: Sol Robeson: "Hold on. You have to slow down. You're losing it. You have to take a breath. Listen to yourself. You're connecting a computer bug I had with a computer bug you might have had and some religious hogwash. You want to find the number 216 in the world, you will be able to find it everywhere. 216 steps from a mere street corner to your front door. 216 seconds you spend riding on the elevator. When your mind becomes obsessed with anything, you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere."

Maximillian Cohen: "If the number's there I'll find it! "

Sol Robeson: "You remember Archimedes of Syracuse, eh? The king asks Archimedes to determine if a present he's received is actually solid gold. Unsolved problem at the time. It tortures the great Greek mathematician for weeks - insomnia haunts him and he twists and turns in his bed for nights on end. Finally, his equally exhausted wife - she's forced to share a bed with this genius - convinces him to take a bath to relax. While he's entering the tub, Archimedes notices the bath water rise. Displacement, a way to determine volume, and that's a way to determine density - weight over volume. And thus, Archimedes solves the problem. He screams "Eureka" and he is so overwhelmed he runs dripping naked through the streets to the king's palace to report his discovery.
Now, what is the moral of the story?"

Maximillian Cohen: "That a breakthrough will come."

Sol Robeson: "Wrong! The point of the story is the wife. You listen to your wife, she will give you perspective, meaning."

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This is a BYOP event. No, not Bring Your Own PEN, Bring your own puzzle!

What better way to celebrate Pi Day, then to have and event.

We will be meeting on Saturday, 3/14/15 at Panera Bread in Freehold at 9:26am.  The event will last at least 53 minutes, but more likely 5358 seconds.  (Get there by 10:50am if you want to get credit for attending)

The idea here is to not only celebrate Pi Day, but to do a roundtable discussion about those puzzle you've been having trouble with. We can talk about some of the interesting puzzles you've solved recently, or we can just talk about Geocaching in general.

The goal is not to spoil puzzle, but to learn and collaborate to make us all better puzzle solvers and creators.

Got it.  If you're confused, just remember Pi = 3.14159265258

Don't be square, be there!

Hot out of the oven
Geocaching.com is celebrating this year’s Pi Day with two new souvenirs. The first souvenir is inspired by the groups of people who have an irrational love for irrational numbers. Attend this event and get your Pi Day souvenir. The second souvenir celebrates the mystery of pi—to earn it, log a “Found It” on a Mystery Cache on March 14.
