Geocache Description:

Pi makes the world go 'round', but this Pi only comes once every hundred years!

At 9:26.53am on Saturday the 14th of March, we will be celebrating a once in a lifetime Pi day. Yes, that's right: 3/14/15 9:26.53. Soak up the glory that is the perfect combination of maths, geometry, calendar nomenclature and timekeeping.

Pi day

Eager Pi-philes are welcome to join the Happy Chappies and Ilovedrwho from 9am, who will be gathered at the little-known circles (Hillcrest Reserve, Donvale) hovering above the Eastlink Tunnel.

At 9:26.53 we will kick the formal proceedings off with a bang (or at least 3.14 bangs!), before proceeding into a range of pi-related games and activities. We expect formal proceedings will be finished by 10am, but of course, we know many of you will hang around a lot longer....

We will have some coffee/tea and a selection of pies ready to share, but if anyone would like to 'bring a pie to pi day' to help out with the catering, that would be much appreciated and encouraged...  smiley

Activities:

* For the brainy: A pi reciting contest (with a kids and adult rounds) - Prizes for those who can recite pi to the most digits.

* For the brawny: Pi-circle toss. Throw a pi(e) plate to see who can hit the center of the circle. Prizes for winners.

* There will also be a pi-day puzzle cache temporarily set up too!

This is also a great chance to pick up a couple of Pi day souvenirs!

Pi for now!
