Cumbernauld Glen is a lovely area of woodland and open fields in the centre of the new town of Cumbernauld. It connects the old village to the new parts of the town via a series of paths and trails and is ideal for a long walk with the Geodogs. At one end of the Glen is Cumbernauld Theatre, the inspiration for this Geocache, and in the middle is Cumbernauld House and Field.
This cache takes you into the expanse of Cumbernauld Field where you get great views on a good day towards the Campsie Hills and beyond. The field is ideal for playing with your dog and is very popular so watch out for Muggles! The field is broken up by various trees and this cache is hidden in one just on the edge of a small area of wood / scrubland which has a small stream running through it. Look for the oldest, gnarliest tree and you're on the right track! It's a small clic fresh tub.
Cumbernauld Theatre is hidden in the trees just beyond this field and gave me this inspiration for a movie themed cache. Tree Beard was an Ent guarding the Forest of Fangorn in The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers. This cache is hidden in a tree that reminded me of Tree Beard, an old gnarly tree, standing on it's own on the edge of the field as if guarding the rest. This is a popular area and the original cache was muggled so please be careful and hide it well! Congrats to Amazo for FTF!
