We enjoy visiting Whatman Park: it has two play parks, for younger and older children, a skate/scooter park, a treetop walk, trim trail and plenty of space to run around in. There are benches to sit on, and we have also sheltered under the roof of the stage area after being caught out by the rain! It is a nice afternoon activity playing here and then walking up the river path to Allington Lock, where you can enjoy some refreshments if you want to while you watch the boats..
This cache is a few metres into the trees opposite the start of the treetop walk, but the vegetation is sparse enough that you shouldn‘t need to trample anything to reach it. For those people without children, you are out of sight of all three play areas, and for those of you who like trains, you may be lucky enough to have one whistle past on the other side of the fence while you‘re searching.
