Geocache Description:

A CITO event held in conjunction with the New York Trails and Parks "I Love My Park Day".

Saturday, May 2, 2015 will be the fourth annual "I Love My Park Day" at more than 80 state parks and historic sites in every corner of New York State. Last year, more than 6,000 volunteers pitched in to take part in cleanup, improvement, and beautification projects throughout New York. Several projects will be taking place at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights.

Geocachers have specifically been asked to engage in a litter clean up on a proposed trail corridor that will link the main part of FDR to a smaller tract southeast of Mohansic Lake. There is a tremendous amount of litter in this location, from an old washing machine, miscellaneous metal items, bottles/cans to other more challenging items such as an old car, propane tank and water tank.

We will be meeting at the posted coordinates, which point to the boat launch parking area off of Baldwin Road in Yorktown Heights (NOT in the main part of the park). Look for the Lower Hudson Geocaching banner!

Various groups will be participating in activities from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We are scheduled to help from 10:00 AM to noon. You are not required to stay that whole time, but we ask that you give us at least an hour of your time to qualify for the smiley! Then take off to enjoy the many other aspects of the "I Love My Park Day" festivities!

Bring work gloves and a water bottle.
