Geocache Description:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the coordinates above. In fact, they put you in a very lovely spot on the water where you can enjoy the serenity. However, if you want to find this cache, I don't recommend going there; I recommend solving the puzzle in the cache description below instead.

That being said, the cache is within 3.14159265359... km of the posted coordinates.

Pi Pie

Happy Pi Day!

March 14th (3/14) is celebrated as Pi Day (3.14) by math enthusiasts around the world. Pi is the mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. Mathematically, it’s transcendental and irrational. Its decimal places go on infinitely.

To celebrate the holiday, I have been serving up a Pi Day puzzle every year since 2014; here are the caches in the series thus far:

2014 - GC4ZJ6K
2015 - GC5N33X
2016 - GC6CCXC
2017 - GC71EYQ
2018 - GC7KADF
2019 - GC82DRP
2020 - GC8KCRK
2021 - GC97CB8
2022 - GC9PQ0A
2023 - GCA4BKB
2024 - GCAJMK3

For 2015, I presented insight regarding some of our local cachers who love to get together and discuss geocaching. One day, five of our esteemed members met at a local pie shop to celebrate Pi Day and discuss their latest finds. As it turned out, each had found a different type of cache that morning and each find had a different size container. As each recounted their story to the others, it turned out they had each ordered a different type of pie and different beverage to wash it down.

To find the true coordinates...

1) Based on the clues below, determine each cacher's type of find, size of container, pie ordered and beverage preference.
2) Based on the aforementioned determinations, solve the substitutions at the end.

CLUES:

1. The cache with the large container (which wasn't found by the pumpkin pie eater) wasn't found by Dirtdobbers. The chocolate pie eater wasn't The Wanderr and didn't order tea. The multi-cache didn't have the regular size container.

2. The apple pie eater didn't drink cider (which was not ordered by 833A nor PokerLuck). The water drinker (which wasn't The Wanderr) didn't find the cache which had its size listed as "other". The banana pie eater (which wasn't 833A) didn't find the cache with the micro container.

3. The chocolate pie eater (who didn't order coffee) wasn't Excaliburrd. Neither The Wanderr (who didn't find the large container) nor the pumpkin pie eater found the traditional cache. Neither the finder of the micro container nor the tea drinker was 833A.

4. Neither the pecan pie eater nor the water drinker was the one that found the large container. Excaliburrd (who is allergic to bananas) didn't find the cache with the "other" container. The chocolate pie eater (who didn't find the regular size container) didn't find the traditional cache.

5. The apple pie eater didn't order tea. The water drinker (who didn't order pumpkin pie) didn't find the small container. The micro container was neither the one found by PokerLuck nor the one in the multi-cache.

6. The milk drinker (who didn't find the large container) wasn't 833A. The wherigo didn't have the regular size container. The banana pie eater (which wasn't PokerLuck) didn't find the traditional cache.

7. Dirtdobbers didn't find the micro container. The cider drinker found neither the mystery nor the wherigo caches. PokerLuck didn't find the container listed as "other".

Final coordinates:
N35° 5A.BCD
W84° 0E.FGH

A= Excaliburrd's pie - Dirtdobber's pie

B= The pumpkin pie eater - the apple pie eater + the chocolate pie eater

C= The Wanderr's drink + Dirtdobber's drink + 833A's drink

D= 833A's pie + Pokerluck's pie - The Wanderr's pie

E= Pokerluck's container - Excaliburrd's container + The Wanderr's container

F= The letterbox finder's drink + the wherigo finder's drink

G= The wherigo finder - the mystery finder - the letterbox finder + the multi finder

H= The traditional container + the mystery container - the wherigo container

Enjoy, happy hunting, and good luck spilling your ink. Cache ya later!

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning and effort to create and place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey, or the location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or "copy and paste" logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
Travel Bug Etiquette: Cachers pay good money for Travel Bugs and Geocoins. If you take a TB or GC from a cache, PLEASE ensure it is correctly logged in and out. If you take one that still shows it is somewhere else, please be patient before "grabbing" the item; it does not get its mileage by being grabbed before the last person to drop it has had time to log their placement. This is particularly important on busy and new caches. If you have an issue with a bug or coin, please e-mail or message the owner through their profile and advise them of the issue; they will be pleased to hear from you.
