Geocache Description:

Welcome to one of the less known features of Brisbane Water national Park! This multi is based around an extraordinarily large cave which would have no trouble sleeping 100 people in it:

This cache is best experienced as an overnight trip, but we walked in from Wondabyne train station, did the cache, went down the creek and came back in 6 hours. However, we managed to walk to the cave in an hour and a half. On other occasions I have walked in from Girrakool which I highly recommend. This is also possible as a long day walk, but extra exploration will require extra time, meaning it is best to camp in the cave. If you do choose to stay in the cave, please take your rubbish out with you, use the established fire-place seen in the image above, and try to leave some firewood for the next people. There is drinking water available at almost any time of the year. This creek has a large feeder swamp with a slow release, and some large pools which I presume would hold water year round. In drier times it may be advisable that you take water purification tablets with you as stagnant water generally is not clean to drink. If you put in some hard yards you will come to this:

Coming this far down the creek is NOT NEEDED to find the cache. To get down here is a definite 4 terrain.

Completing the cache:

The following method is the fastest way to do this. Please feel free to add in your own side trips or personalise the route. Firstly catch the train to Wondabyne. You will need to travel in the rear car on the all stations train and inform the guard that you wish to stop here. Once off the train, head up the hill to the trackhead labeled START. turn left here and follow the trail until it turns to single track. From here the track will become a little monotonous and in some spots hard to follow. But if you keep your wits about you and keep an eye out for the rock marker cairns on some of the flat rock sections, it is pretty hard to get lost. Once you are within 1km of the posted coordinates (the Pindar Cave) you will come to this location:

Stand where I took the photo and see how far (straight line as the crow flies) away you are from the Pindar cave. Round the distance to the nearest hundred meters and call this 'A00m' [Confused?? ok, lets supose that the picture was 430m away from the cave. This would round to 400m (nearest hundred meters remember) meaning that A=4] From this point continue to the cave. From the main fireplace there is a small track which takes you down to the creek. Once at the creek, move to the spot where you can see this:

Again measure the distance to the cave like you did for WP1. This distance is B00 meters. From this image, we found a nice little swimming hole about 80m upstream. Further downstream is where the photo of the waterfall was taken.

You may like to return to the cave to sit down for the following numbercrunching:

Once you have figured out A and B;
C= B/2
D=B-3
E=(Ax3)-9
F=B+3
G=D+C

The container can be found just off a formed track at S33 CE.FAG E151 13.FCD

Happy Caching!!!
