Geocache Description:

Another abandoned campground along Abbot Road. There is a spring down the hill a bit, and an abandoned trail that goes by Hambone Butte, and apparently all the way to the Salmon River, although I havn't gone that far.

Can you believe that we (1/2 of the Estacadians and I) got all the way up here in mid February? There's NO snow! We followed the old 792 trail until we started going downhill, then headed straight up the butte. I do wish the weather had been a little better so we could have had a view, but after that steep hill, it felt great to reach the top. I've seen this rocky top from Salmon Butte before and always said, "got to go there someday." Never would have thought that someday would be in February. There is also a neat spring just down the hill from the last camping spot, although if I was camping here, I would get my water from The Abbot Rd. Watering Hole. Enjoy your search, and have fun exploring.
