Geocache Description:

A cache at the Fisherman's Path - at a lovely location !!

A very easy to walk footpath along the River Spey, a very scenic stroll. Once in a while there are benches to relax and watch the river flow by or to watch the fishermen.

But please do not drive by car - it is a footpath and just the fishermen have permission to drive here.

I recommend to leave the car in Aberlour, cross the footbridge and start at GC5EV2Q, follow the road to your left and enjoy the walk in such a beautiful area.

Most of the trail has a solid road surface and is suitable for buggies, bicycles, etc.

This is an official path and you and your doggies are welcome to enjoy a walk. However during the fishing season it's the Fisherman's Area, so please be respectful, discreet and take care not being watched - watch out for muggles.

The fishing Season started Feb11 this year (2015) and will end Sep30. There is no fishing on Sundays. For further information about Fishing in the Spey I recommend to visit: www.speyfisheryboard.com.

There are two junctions you can use to reach the caches of the "Beauty of Speyside" Series - but those paths are more "rural", a bit muddy after longer rain and of course, these paths go uphill.

It turned out that the final of this cache is very difficult to find, as coords are jumping like crazy at the site. I took the coords 5 times within 10 minutes exactly at the same tree, but my Garmin gave me 5 different coords. So let's try to find the cache in a "letter-box" way :

To find the Cache - first go to the 'The Fishermen's Beauty of Speyside' - to waypoint No 1 at N 57° 28.170 W 003° 15.506 and enjoy the scenery.

One of the Fishermen lost his lunchbox - have a look if you can find it: Return to the main path - go about 90 steps to the right at the trail, stop very close to a big tree at your left. Go into the woods near that tree .... there is a bigger tree in the back - you see a fallen tree at the left in a short distance - you're very close. The cache is at the base of the big tree, under a branch at the ground covered with branches and cones. I am checking this cache very often and most of the time it is covered with new needles and leaves. So have a good look at the base of the tree.

Read the logs, I have updated the coords taken by the FTF and myself - but keep in mind, the coords are not accurate in that wood.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Buccaneer for being the FTF and their nice logs and lovely feedback!!

Enjoy your walk and HAPPY CACHING!!
