This geocache is hidden in the Ariundle woods - an area of beautiful old oakwoods. Notice all the moss and litchen on the trees - an indicator of a lot of rain (!) but more importantly they show how clean the atmosphere is here The track you walk along to get to the cache was once a busy route up to the old lead mines in the hills at the head of the glen. These lead mines where in operation in the 18th and 19th centuries.

We have named all our cache after dogs as the hairy spangle (spaniel) is an important if completely useless member of the team.
