Geocache Description:

Who: All Cachers Welcome

What: The Special 2015 π Pi Day Event

Where: See Coordinates. We will meet at the picnic tables. Rain or shine.

When:  03/14/15  9:26:53 (54) in the morning. We will keep the log open until 1030.

Why: See Below

The earliest known official or large-scale celebration of Pi Day was organized by Larry Shaw in 1988 at the San Francisco Exploratorium, where Shaw worked as a physicist, with staff and public marching around one of its circular spaces, then consuming fruit pies. The Exploratorium continues to hold Pi Day celebrations.

The entire month of March 2014 (3/14) has been observed by some to be "Pi Month".

This year, Pi Day will have special significance on 3/14/15 at 9:26:53 a.m. and p.m., with the date and time representing the first 10 digits of π. That same second will also contain a precise instant corresponding to all of the digits of π. However, some argue that 9:26:54 a.m. and p.m. on 3/14/15 are more accurate because of the 11th digit of π being 5, which would cause the 10th digit to round up to 4.

Punch and Pie...all great gatherings have punch and pie. Feel free to bring some! I hope to bring my native Key Lime pie to the mix, but just one.

This park is close to many puzzle caches. This is important to note because the other souvenir that you can earn on this day is by finding a puzzle cache. Start solving now! If you have trouble, I heard a rumor Big Dave may help you with that. I will have a logbook with me for all to sign at the above time. I'll keep the logbook open for an hour. Also, when logging, make sure to log your attendance and puzzle cache on 03/14/2015. We are in the future here, in Okinawa.
