龍岡城は、1867年に建てられた城です。
この城の城主は、自分の別の領地に住んでいましたがここに城を建てて引っ越してきました。
城が建てられた時代は、すでに西洋の城郭建築技術も日本に伝えられていたため、この城も函館の五稜郭と同じ洋式城郭となりました。
明治時代になって城は壊されて、学校の敷地になりました。
城主は日本赤十字社の原型を作った人として、記念碑が建てられています。
日本に二つしか無い五稜郭です。歩いて一周してみてください。
