Pi is the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle. Although it is commonly expressed as 22/7 this is an approximation. Its decimal representation leads to an apparently endless number of digits with a million plus being available via the internet. Consequently it’s a puzzle setter’s delight with the ability to specify virtually any number by its position in the sequence. There are other pi(e) related unknown caches but my lips are sealed. I would have liked to have based this event on a well known local pie shop but they (and others) are geared more to the Monday to Friday works trade hence the event will be at a circular object instead.
Today we are just concerned with 3.1415926. That's 3.14 because it’s the way Groundspeak HQ and all those other folks across the pond choose to represent March 14th, 15 for the year 2015 and 926 for 9:26 a.m. The time has been included as the CO has found most local puzzles and fully intends to gain the Mystery of Pi souvenir later in the day. Extreme pedants may also wish to include the next two digits i.e. 53 as seconds! So please aim to be eating a pie (late breakfast?) at the location at 09:26. Subject to availability hot ones may be obtained in King Street and the Market Place.
