Come visit the Melmont Ghost Town. This coal town was founded in 1900, and the last resident was in 1920. Ultimately a fire destroyed what was left. All that is left in the area are parts of a bridge, part of a storage building and the foundation of the schoolhouse. Start out descending the bridge trail down to the old road, be careful, it can get steep(had a 7, 8, and 10 year old with me the did fine) Continue SE. Soon you will see the remains of a bridge tressel on the right hand side. Next you will see the husk of a storage building on your left. Keep on trekking. Eventually you will come to a Y, take a right . There will be a clearing on your right. This is where Melmont used to be. Explore the area and find a cache too.
