From the Fort Stevens Historical Site & Military Museum parking lot ($5 day use fee), walk toward the West Batteries.  Continue walking past the batteries, up the steps, heading for Battery 245. When your magic machine sez turn north, take the Jetty Trail. Your destination is the Machine Gun Nest.

If you’re unfamiliar with the park, pick up a trail map at the museum.

It’s a nano but appearances are often illusory.

The lid is pretty air tight. Twist it back and forth a little to get it off and on.

Nota Bene: If you are caching in the late spring or early summer, mosquito repellent is highly recommended. They’re wicked this time of the year.
