This state was named after the first President. It's rugged countryside is populated with it's largest state resource. It also is a large producer of apples, hops, pears, red raspberries, spearment oil and sweet cherries. When Michigan gets hit hard in the spring and hurts the cherry crop, it looks to Washington to make up some of the difference in the yearly quota. This state was the 42nd state admitted to the Union on November 11, 1889. It's capital is Olympia.
