Geocache Description:

Bridgewater 2018 Spring CITO Cleanup

Highway 103 - Exit 13 Carpool Parking Lot
Saturday, April 21, 4:30p.m.-5:30p.m.

It's that time again! With the disappearance of the snow it's time for CITO week, so come out and help beautify an area in NEED of some cleaning.

We will be back again this year to clean up the garbage around the carpool parking lot at Exit 13. Since it's a small area it should not take a long time to accomplish with a good turnout, but due to the CITO guidelines the event is scheduled for one hour in length. If we finish cleaning early people are welcome to hang out and socialize. Garbage bags will be provided, but please bring your own work gloves since I won't have enough for everyone. Any children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

There will be the usual log to sign and some "out"door prizes. I've tried to time the event so people can drop in at the end of their caching day before supper and not have it overlap with the other CITOs going on this Saturday. This is being planned as a rain or shine event, but if there's heavy rain forecast the event will happen from 2:30-3:30pm on Sunday (a decision will be made by Friday night).

In order to make sure everyone stays safe during the clean up, please note:

  • You should wear closed toe shoes to protect your feet.
  • Any children must be supervised by a parent/guardian to make sure they don't try to pick up anything better left for an adult to handle.
  • Make sure your work gloves are suitable for picking up garbage.
  • There will be blue bags for recyclables and a bucket for any broken glass or sharp objects that shouldn't go in a garbage bag.
More instructions regarding safety will be given at the event. This event will also be submitted for inclusion in the Clean Nova Scotia Great Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up. You can read their advice on cleanup procedures here. Hope to see you there!
