Matthew Henson was the first African American Arctic Explorer, which kind of makes him like a geocacher in the winter climates here. The park named after him is a greenway along the Turkey Branch of Rock Creek. The park runs from Aspen Hill to Layhill, Maryland, linking the Rock Creek Trail with the Sligo Creek Trail.
This cache sits near the end of the Matthew Henson Trail Section A. Here, you can park in the neighborhood and make your way up the Matthew Henson. You are looking for a nano tucked into the wooded area hidden in an unusual way. This was my first attempt at a cache like this, so let me know how you like it! Make sure to hide the cache as well or better than you found it.
