Geocache Description:

Pie!  Is there any more perfect food?  Imagine the variety of crusts, fillings and toppings in their infinite savory and sweet combinations, and it is certain that you will find one to someone's liking.  Come share a slice and swap stories, pi(e) related and otherwise.

John Mincemeat Pieslinger, born March 14th, 1701, is recognized as the father of the American pie, and is credited with the first documented "pye cruft" recipe in the American colonies.  He went on to create a pie empire that is credited with its support of the new government not only with nutritional supplement, but also moving of secrets along its transcontinental Underground Bakery.  Pieslinger's own employees in the dairy, grain and produce markets would move spies and information quickly among the 13 colonies and beyond its borders.  General Washington commented that "An army may march on its stomach, but our country marches thanks to pies."

It is a unique American holiday much like Thanksgiving, that Pieslinger's birthday signals the unofficial start of the spring season.  Come celebrate the 314th anniversary of his birth.  Bring a pie, and we can share slices. If you would like, please RSVP your pie type in the comments; bringing pie is not a requirement to attend.   I hear something about a souvenir, too, if you're in to those things.

Veteran's Park Shelter #1, 3/14/15 9:26am, lasting 53 minutes.  See you there!
