Matthew Henson was the first African American Arctic Explorer, which kind of makes him like a geocacher in the winter climates here. The park named after him is a greenway along the Turkey Branch of Rock Creek. The park runs from Aspen Hill to Layhill, Maryland, linking the Rock Creek Trail with the Sligo Creek Trail.
You are very near to the beginning (End?) of the Matthew Henson Trail. This cache is located in section A of the trail system, but this area is one of the last spots that I placed caches in. Go figure. Please remember to rehide the cache in a way that the container is unseen.
