Geocache Description:

This location takes you to the far end of the hidden "Flying Crown" air strip in Southwestern Anchorage. The airstrip was developed before the 1964 earthquake and snuggles right up to the Alaska Railroad line and behind houses for half a mile. You can read more about the history of the airstrip by clicking on the "Related Web Page".

Planes, trains, buses and automobiles are all passing near ground zero, so please park and hunt safely and with your best stealth techniques. The road is much busier than you might expect because it is the last place to cross the railroad tracks in the south of the Anchorage bowl.

Because of the busy location, the cache is designed to be easy so that geocachers can pretend to be tourists looking and photographing the interesting airstrip rather than up to mischief. No tools are needed. Beginner cachers might find it difficult if they haven't seen this type of cache before. Please be sure the cache is securely attached when you leave -- look closely to see the cache attachment points.
