Geocache Description:



The Aerocar Co. Detroit, Michigan 1906-1908

The advertising mentions the oil paint finish as wear proof and scar proof. One interesting feature was the new Aeroplane Mud Guards - "Which lightens the car and makes steering easy, no mud can reach body or occupant." Wheels on this model were 36 inch. The motor is air cooled and silent running.

The model C Touring Runabout sold for $2,000.00. The Aerocar Model A Touring Car which was a 5 passenger automobile cost $2,500.00 in 1907. The Aerocar used 4 cylinder engine both air cooled and water cooled.

The Aerocar was described as "The one motor car powered and driven by the one reliable, practically demonstrated air cooled motor with a record of 3,500 miles without an adjustment". Only one body color choice on this Model A Aerocar and that was royal blue.

Drive train specifications included - 28 Horsepower, four cylinder vertical inline, air cooled, ignition is jump spark, transmission is a three speed sliding gear with forward and reverse and leather clutch.

In this 1908 Aerocar advertisement "There is no getting away from these cars at these prices!" The 08 models were equipped with 20 or 40 horsepower air or water cooled four cylinder engines, multiple disc clutches, sliding gear transmissions and shaft drive. A Model E was priced at $1500.00, Model D at $1500.00 and a Model E at $2200.00.

To enter Belle Isle State Park you will need either a Michigan State Park Passport or a day pass. Residents are $11.00 per year, non residence is $31.00 per year and the daily pass is $9.00 per day.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has given the Belle Isle Cachers exclusive permission to place all geocaches on Belle Isle State Park. Please be respectful to the park, its management and all other visitors during your time here.

This park is very busy year round, please use extreme stealth at all times as every area is being used by others. Rock hides give great views around the island, we have marked the cache location to help with your finds so please replace just as you found them.
