Stantonbury is one of the former villages of Bucks that were absorbed into the new city of Milton Keynes in the 1960s.
The name of Stantonbury is composed of two parts. The first, 'Stanton' derives from the old English words stan + tun, and means 'farmstead on stony ground'. The second part 'bury' was actually 'Barry' originally, but in the 17th century it was changed by the then lord of the manor.
Nowadays Stantonbury is more famous for it's complex maze of roads and the campus. This cache is placed near to a map of the estate, have a look at it! All the squares in Stantonbury are named, not the roads, so you will find one row of houses belonging to one name opposite another row of houses belonging to another. Not at all confusing!! As a resident of Stantonbury for 11 years we constantly have mail delivered to us that is intended for elsewhere and vice versa. Don't get lost on your way out!
The cache is our first one, so please let me know if the co – ordinates are off. Geokid found the hiding place. Just a simple cache and dash. Once we get the hang of this we are hoping to place more unique caches!
Thanks and carry on caching!
Congratulations on Tazmyers on FTF!!
