Geocache Description:

This cache replaces "GCHCAA Monument", by Free Tibet which has been archived.

The monument was erected by the citizens of Albury to commemorate those who died in World War One. Excellent views of Albury-Wodonga can be seen from the hill where the War Memorial is located.

The monument was designed by architect Louis Harrison in 1923 and erected in 1924 at a cost of 3,000 pounds.

 The Monument

In 1925 on Anzac Day the Memorial was dedicated to the men and women who served in World War I (1914-18).

A short walking distance East, below the Monument, there is a Memorial Bowl to honour the men and women who served in World War II (1939-45).

There are a number of walking tracks to and around the site where you can enjoy the sights and sound of local native flora and fauna.

The cache is a small screw top container with a logbook. Please re-hide carefully and watch out for mugglers as this can be a busy spot for tourists.

Take the chance to enjoy the views of Albury and Wodonga from this hill.
