Geocache Description:

In 1973 Joe Reddington Sr saw his vision of bringing the Iditarod back to life. This trail has seen many mushers travel over this Historic trail on the way to Nome. Although the race no longer passes by this way, many mushers still use this historic section of trail to train on.

You might even get lucky to catch a glimpse of teams training in the area. There are active kennels in the neighborhood, including my own, so please exercise caution while in the area. The neighborhood has streets named after checkpoints located on the Iditarod Trail.

While on your way to search for this geocache be sure to stop by the Iditarod Headquarters on mile 2 on Kinik Goose Bay Rd and the Knik Museum located on mile 13.9. Both place are rich in local and mushing history.
