Pont Drift is the border between Botswana and South Africa. There is no bridge here and when the Limpopo is in flood one has to cross the Limpopo river in a small cable car. This is the entry point to the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, where there are numerours private concessions and lodges. .
The cache is situated at a spot open to the general public at the intersection of the main road towards the airport and Transit Road which leads to Selebi Phikwe and the Platjan border post. Platjan has a concrete causeway over the Limpopo and I have had to cross there a few times when the Limpopo is full. It is about 65 km away.
I have been visiting this area for some years now and it has become my No 1 favourite bush experience. Just down the road there is another cache at Solomons Wall which I highly recommend. In fact I was born in Botswana so it is fitting that my 1st 3 geocache finds have been in Botswana. I have hidden this cache to afford any geocache visitor an easy find compared to some of the others in the area that are actually on private property and therefore technically not open to all. Mashatu is the largest private owner within the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, and their offices are situated at Pont Drift about 1 km away should you want to seek permission to visit Solomons wall which is about 22km away on the Motloutse river down this Transit Road to Selebi-Phikwe etc
This spot is in an unfenced Game Reserve, so please just look before you search. I have seen elephant very close to here before. Just be bush savvy & sensible.
