This is a small Norman Church built about AD1170
The late Norman arched door opening is ornamental with zigzags forming lozenges on two faces of the round headed arch. The hood mould is Greek key-pattern, supported by two colonettes with scallop capitals. The porch and its stone seats are believed to be a late medieval addition and the door and ironwork are 1875.
Inside
The font is Norman (AD 1100-1135) according to a Pridham's "Church fonts of Somerset" Square in shape, with decorations on three sides, like many fonts it spent years as a trough in a nearby field.
The beautifully carved wooden structure opposite the door conceals the heater and was carved by a parishioner, Mr P. Morgan, in memory of Ruth Cullen, the verger for 40 years.
The west window in the nave depicts Faith, Hope and Charity, as shown by the emblems held by the figures. It is a product of the Joseph Bell studios in Bristol. The most modern glazing in this church is at the rear end of the south wall. It also is Bristol clear glass, so designed as not to obstruct the fine view across the valley to Crook Peak.
