Binding the Destroyer Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

PaukenAC: This one really fizzled out, a disappointment in most respects. The container is worn and the site didn't inspire many visitors. So it is removed. Thanks to those who visited.

Geocache Description:

A Letterbox Hybrid that is NOT hidden at the posted coordindates: but this a good place to park. In addition to the normal logbook and trade items, it also contains a letterbox stamp, inkpad, and stamp book. Please do not remove the stamp, ink pad, or stamp book. THEY ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS!

"I’ll sing you a song of the long ago - Seven shine the shiners, oh!
What did the Seven do way back when? Why, they wove the Charter then!
Five for the warp, from beginning to end.
Two for the woof, to make and mend.
That’s the Seven, but what of the Nine-
What of the two who chose not to shine?
The Eighth did hide, hide all away,
But the Seven caught him and made him pay.
The Ninth was strong and fought with might,
But lone Orannis was put out of the light,
Broken in two and buried under hill,
Forever to lie there, wishing us ill."
-Lirael pp. 525-526.

Orannis, also known as the Destroyer, is the most powerful of the Nine Bright Shiners. After destroying countless other worlds, the seven (Ranna, Mosrael, Kibeth, Dyrim, Belgaer, Saraneth, and Astarael) combined together to bind Orannis as two halves of a silver sphere, buried beneath wards of Silver, Gold, Lead, Rowan, Ash, Oak and Bone. Yrael abstained from this, and was thus forced to serve the Abhorsen line as the bound free magic creature Mogget.

When Orannis rose again, it took 8 remnants of the original Nine to bind him anew. This binding was as follows:
thinker, binder, weeper, runner, sleeper, waker, walker, and speaker.

The letterbox is hidden on top of the hill and the posted coordinates are a good place to park. It is a pullout on the eastbound HWY 260 just past the guardrail. Climb the hill straight to the south, then go east towards the cache. You can stay away from the electrified elk fence: it is nowhere nearby. The hill has a south west and a northeast knob: look for a rock pile just west of the northeast knob high point. The spoiler picture is taken at the cache site.

This is a letterbox hybrid. In addition to the normal logbook and trade items, it also contains a letterbox stamp, inkpad, and stamp book. Please do not remove the stamp, ink pad, or stamp book. THEY ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS!
