La chiesa arcipretale di Pedavena è dedicata a S. Giovanni Battista. L'attuale edificio sacro risale al 1757, quando fu iniziata la costruzione, e fu consacrato nel 1768. Progettata dall'arch. Antonio De Boni, la chiesa fu eretta in posizione elevata sulla sinistra orografica del Colmeda sul medesimo luogo della precedente benché l'abside sia rivolta verso settentrione anziché verso Gerusalemme.
È raggiungibile dalla strada per una significativa scalinata d'ingresso. In precedenza, presumibilmente già dal secolo XIII, vi era un'altra chiesa di modeste dimensioni.
Il campanile ha origini cinquecentesche ma fu sottoposto a diversi interventi di completamento e di restauro fino a questo secolo.
L'assetto parrocchiale ha subito una lunga trasformazione e infatti se ci sono testimonianze nei secoli antecendenti al '500 che dimostrano la chiesa pedavenese dotata di un proprio patrimonio di beni, all'inizio del secolo XVI viene qualificata come cappellania alle dipendenze della cattedrale di Feltre. Otterrà piena autonomia solo nel 1723.
Conserva tra le opere d'arte una pala attribuita al pennello di Alessandro Bonvicino detto il Moretto da Brescia. Raffigura il tema della Natività con i Santi Giovanni Battista e Zaccaria.
