Cache is located on the Lower Trent Trail. Although not maintained, it's a great walk or bike route in summer and snow shoe or cross country ski trail in winter. All caches in this Bata series are near or not far off the trail and winter friendly. Some require bushwacking and/or snow trekking. (right now it is pretty deep in some spots!) There could be wet or marshy areas to negotiate as well in spring and fall.
Batawa is a small community of approximately 500 residents which is home to an elementary school, church, fire hall, sports fields and a busy community centre. As well, Batawa is home to its own sugar bush and several colonies of bees producing local honey. This spring will see the unveiling of a new and improved play area for children. In winter, Batawa hosts hockey tournaments on the outdoor rinks as well as ski teams and ski lessons at the Batawa Ski HIll. There is recreational skiing in the daytime and state of the art lighting makes night skiing popular. In spring, summer and fall Batawa plays host to a variety of running events, including the Zombie Run!!
