Kodama-doh Shrine connected with Saint Kukai
A small shrine is located along side of road to Bajo Park.
The shrine stands in the forest, and stone Torii gate is located in front of lacquered shrine.
This heritage tells us history of co-existence of Shinto and Buddhism.
According to a legend, two balls came out from the pond of Hachiyourenge
when Saint Kukai was in training session.
He took a smaller ball and enshrined it in the Kodama-doh Shrine.
That ball was treated as a Bosatsu. On the contrary,
bigger ball was enshrined in Myouken-doh shrine of Chuzenji Temple.

日光は古くから山岳信仰の地、僧侶たちの修行の場として栄えました。
この小さな朱塗りのお堂「児玉堂」は、
弘法大師（空海）が、日光の滝尾で修行を していた時、
池の中から大小2つの玉が現れ、そのうちの一つ、
小さい玉を虚空蔵菩薩として祀ったのが始まりと言われています。
また大きな玉は、飛び去ったとされる中禅寺湖方面にお堂を建て、
妙見菩薩を祀ったとされています。このお堂は「妙見堂」と言います。
古の僧侶たちが感じていたパワーを皆さんも感じながら キャッシュハントを楽しんで下さい。
