Geocache Description:

A simple hide in a spot that needed a cache.

The Eyak River boat launch is a popular spot for accessing the river and various sloughs downstream. With pit toilets and lots of parking, this pretty spot is also a good place just to stop and enjoy the quiet and the scenery.

The river is quite shallow, so most power boats have jet drives instead of propellers. It is possible at high tide for jet bowpickers (fishing boats) to make it all the way up here, although few do it anymore. I have been told that fishermen before the 1964 earthquake would run their boats from Eyak Lake downriver to the fishing grounds at Egg Island. With 6' of uplift here, that changed everything.

You are looking for a camoed bison tube in a prickly tree, so gloves may be helpful
