Johnson County Park & Recreation District (JCPRD) is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2015. The District is a leader in its field providing the community with top quality parks and recreational opportunities while being responsible stewards of all our resources. The District’s contributions to the personal lives of Johnson County’s citizens have earned the District local appreciation and national acclaim. Each year the District records more than 7 million park visitors and over 2 million recreation participations in over 4,000 programs. Their slogan is “What do YOU do for fun? If you are reading this, one answer is probably Geocaching. The District is planning many special activities throughout the year. With that in mind, and with the District’s approval we bring you 60 JCPRD caches, one for each of their 60 years. The benefits of recreation and parks span every age and demographic component. Their positive influences are immediate, long-lasting and affect the individual, the community, the economy and the environment. This series highlights some of the District’s recreation offerings with 15 different caches listed below. Each recreation site has a cache with a code in it. Collect all 15 and you will have the coordinates to this series final. The caches are at or near the facilities. Because of this, you may need to be aware of operating hours and times the muggles might be a problem. You will not have to enter any areas that require fees. Enjoy these gems of the county and happy caching, but most of all have FUN!
This cache is for JCPRD’s New Century Fieldhouse, Johnson County’s premier indoor sports and multi-use facility. While they offer many sports and activities available inside you can now add geocaching to the fun on the outside. This cache is a small LNL a short way off the parking lot. The gates are locked overnight after activities. Also this is a high muggle zone during various events. Have fun and check out this great facility.
