This is a challenge cache that will take you to the furthest edges of the world (of Auckland, well, mainland Auckland anyway). Your challenge is to find the most northerly, easterly, southerly and westerly traditional caches in the mainland greater Auckland region. According to the almighty Google Maps (see image loaded to page or Google "Auckland Region" in Maps mode), I make these points as follows: *** UPDATED 7 May 2025 *** It seems Google have changed what they classify as Auckland's boundaries. These now seem to be: Northernmost point is S36 08.346 Eastermost point is E175 17.933 Southernmost point is S37 16.605 Westernmost point is E174 09.725 This cache can be found at the published coordinates, but in order to find it and log it, you must first complete the challenge requirements as described above, in the order as described here: - FIRST, find and log all of the qualifying cache finds necessary for this challenge. - BEFORE you go out to find the challenge cache itself, you can optionally log a note on this cache page stating your qualifying finds (including their GC codes for easy checking) which will reserve your qualification for a future find of the challenge cache. - THEN go out and find this challenge cache. - FINALLY, log your find of the challenge cache on this page. If you have found this without posting a note, list your qualifying caches in your "found it" log. Your qualifying caches must still be accurate at the time of logging your find. If you have posted a note already, you can say whatever you like in your "found it" log and your qualification no longer has to be accurate at the time of your find. Some fine print: This challenge is specific to the mainland Auckland region. Only traditional caches count towards this challenge. The caches on your qualification note must be the furthermost N/E/S/W caches at the time of finding the fourth cache. If a cache is published at a more N/E/S/W position before finding your fourth cache, you must find the new ‘more furthermost’ cache before logging the challenge as completed (and then finding the cache). If a DNF at a qualifying caches can be shown to be as a result of the cache being missing at the time (a string of DNFs or a confirmation from the CO of this being the case) the second most N/E/S/W cache may be used for one qualifying cache. You can have found the caches at any point in your caching career, and in any order, but they must be the most N/E/S/W at the time of you posting a qualifying note. Any qualifying cache previously found, but now archived, that is further N/E/S/W than any active cache can be included as part of your qualification for this challenge. If the cache at the furthermost point is one of your own, this can be counted toward your qualifying caches. D/T rating is a reflection of the challenge and the distance required to travel and the terrain of some of the required caches (at time of publication). The hide itself is more like a 1.5/1.5. You do not need to obtain permission from the cache owner to go and find this cache, but if you do not qualify for the challenge, or you do not follow the procedure above, your find log will be disallowed and deleted. Have fun and enjoy the far corners of our fair city! *** First to Never Eat Shredded Wheat: funkymunkyzone, taking things to a whole new level!!! *** As at 7th May 2025 caches as follows: Northern most GC6AJR8 Decisions Decisions! (Northland) Eastern most GC2KWK9 A9FW (Auckland) Western most GC1VHJ9 Lake Side Wonder (Auckland) Southern most GC25MDK Something Borrowed, Something Blue (Waiuku) as at 7th May 2025 Good luck all...
