Geocache Description:

This is the first of three caches on the Glenville famine walk

A waypoint is provided for parking.  The parking area and the start of the walk are a bit ‘meh’. Be aware that there is an electric fence on the sides of the narrow path at the start of the walk and that sometimes it is live.... but keep the faith… you will be rewarded.

Doonpeter Well and Graveyard

Each year, on the feast of St John (June 23rd), Glenville locals visit the graveyard where many unbaptized babies are buried. Plain stones mark the graves of these unnamed infants. In the graveyard you will also find Doonpeter Holy Well. The stone-lined well is still in use and it is renowned for its ‘healing waters’.

Phone signal isn't great here - may be best to download the co-ords before leaving home.

Depending on the weather, the start of the walk can be very mucky. Wear wellies or walking boots.

The cache is a small, camouflaged, tupperware container.
