Geocache Description:

This is the first cache in a series of caches dedicated to a TV cowboy show that I watched in my youth.  Each cache will be dedicated to some aspect of the TV series:  The 'Roy Rogers Show'.  The first one in the series is dedicated to his wife in real life and also as a member of the cast.  In the TV series, Dale Evans, whit whom he would sing the theme song with at the end of the show:  "Happy Trails"

Dale Evans, was born in Uvalde, Texas in 1912 as Lucille Wood Smith, and soon after it was changed to Frances Octavia Smith.   She eloped with her first husband at age 14.  At age 15, and now a single parent, she started a musical career in Memphis, Tennessee and took the name 'Dale Evans'.

In 1947, she married Roy Rogers (her 4th husband) at the Flying L Ranch is Davis, Oklahoma where they had earlier filmed the movie 'Home in Oklahoma'.  Evans and Rogers had one child, Robin, who died before her second birthday.

Dale Evans passed at age 88 in Apple Valley, California in 2001.

The cache is located along Bridle Crest Trail.   There are multiple selections for parking depending on just how close you want to get to the cache to start your search. Cache is a silver bison, a little larger than normal, located just off the trail a few yards.

"Happy Trails to you, and may we meet again."  (ending from 'Happy Trails song')
