I presume that this, and its partner Well Alive, must have provided refreshment for thirsty livestock as they were driven to market over Whinlatter pass or into the Lorton Valley. This well has long since stopped being able to satisfy our four legged friends. Now a different, two legged, breed will seek it out and ponder over it's history.

This is a simple drive by cache and you are looking for a small plastic tube container.Please note that the cache is not within the dry stone wall.
If you have time to spare why not visit 'Well on The Way'. A flat, 10 minute walk across the fields from here. It is a unique feature as far as I know and has a far more interesting history to discover. Leave the car here and follow the bridleway which starts a few yards north along the road from here.
This cache has become infamous due to its 'Dead' occupant. I can assure you that the poor badger is most likely road kill dumped here and the name of this cache was dreamed up long before it took residence!
