Geocache Description:

The next in the 'Well' series that seeks out the ancient and modern Wells of West Cumbria.

I AM DISMAYED AT THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE BEING DONE AROUND THIS CACHE. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS NOT IN THE WALL AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO MOVE ANY ROCKS OR VEGETATION TO GET THIS ONE. READ THE CLUE, THINK ABOUT IT AND USE YOUR BRAIN NOT YOUR HANDS!

I presume that this, and its partner Well Dead, must have provided refreshment for thirsty livestock as they were driven to market over Whinlatter pass or into the Lorton Valley. Unlike Well Dead this well is very much alive and provides a constant supply of crystal clear running water at all times.

A simple to access drive by cache site but finding the treasure might prove more difficult.

If you would like to expand the Ancient Wells Series by placing a cache of your own please contact LizMar2010 to request a number and to add the cache to the bookmark list This series will encompass both ancient and non ancient wells such as springs and other water features which will always be worth a visit
